      Small Business Margin Lead

      As a Small Business Margin Lead you will be a commercial specialist, providing inspirational leadership and strong commercial acumen in the non-domestic supply market.

      What you’ll be doing

      As the Small Business Margin Lead, you will deputise for the Senior Leader of Small Business Margin as required leading key meetings. You’ll lead the end-end processes from price setting to price load, ensuring these processes are both fast and responsive and robust.

      You’ll constantly be assessing the commercial landscape to identify key opportunities to create value and will be conducting detailed analysis on our products, costs and operating context to define our margin targets.

      Reviewing forecast scenarios and managing hedging submissions, you will lead on the delivery and pricing approach for new innovative products and will provide commercial business partnering across wider the Retail team in key areas (e.g. contract negotiations, new sales channels, investment appraisals).

      Managing a team of three, you will provide mentoring and support for margin analysts and also the wider Commercial and Performance family.

      Who you are

      Leadership and relationship building
      • Ability to inspire and engage our analyst community, providing support and mentorship
      • Excellent relationship builder able to work effectively across the organisation on commercial topics, while providing value input and perspectives on non-commercial topics
      Commercial analysis / decision-making
      • Comfortable undertaking exploratory data analytics on large data sets to identify meaningful trends and patterns within data and inform pricing decision
      • Ability to weigh up multiple scenarios, consider multiple factors and present options / outcomes to aid decision
      • Competent in reviewing financial outputs and drawing interpretations around performance
      • Accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA/ACCA) or MBA would be desirable
      Presentation skills
      • Strong presentational skills and ability to confidently put forward recommendations
      • A track record of influencing others
      Market and regulatory context
      • Strong understanding of the market and regulatory context within which we operate and ability to represent this in decision-making
