- In collaboration with the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager and other relevant IFAW staff, work to develop and implement right whale campaign strategies and activities. As appropriate, convey program objectives and key messages to other departments, government officials and other stakeholders.
- Working closely with the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager, coordinate with team members to ensure implementation and quarterly reporting of right whale project activities.
- Lead specific project activities, meeting set targets and timelines for execution.
- As assigned, working closely with the Sr. Marine campaign manager and relevant IFAW contractors, analyze conservation policies, represent IFAW on coalition efforts including regularly scheduled calls, events, and meetings on the Hill.
- Work in coordination with the US Director and Sr. Marine Campaign manager on US Congressional and agency specific projects.
- When requested by the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager, build IFAW contacts and liaise with external groups and stakeholders; deliver campaign messages in public activities, including meetings and conferences, with external stakeholders and contractors.
- Work closely with Communications staff in the development and implementation of media strategies and public awareness activities in order to meet project and program objectives.
- Coordinate closely with Digital Campaigns and Marketing team to ensure the efficient creation and ongoing maintenance of online campaign content in support of project goals and objectives.
- Assist the Director, Marine Conservation in carrying out administrative projects such as program strategic development and other IFAW-wide initiatives, which require programmatic participation.
- Liaise with all departments within IFAW HQ and International Operations Center as required to support the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager.
- Conduct additional tasks as requested by the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager.
- BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent experience
- One or more years’ experience in project management and/or campaign implementation. Additional (relevant) education may be substituted for some experience.
- Working knowledge of relevant marine conservation issues, organizations and networks.
- Superior writing skills, report writing, briefing documents, strategic analysis, etc.
- Organized, self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Highly effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and experience working on teams in a multi-task environment.
- Ability to interact harmoniously, communicate effectively, and demonstrate diplomacy and sensitivity with people from varying educational, social and cultural backgrounds.
This is a Fixed Term Contract position through June 30, 2027
Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office
Under the direction of the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager, this position supports the implementation of strategic initiatives and campaign projects related to the institutionally prioritized North Atlantic Right Whale campaign in the US and Canada, as well as global marine conservation projects as assigned. The Marine Campaign Assistant is responsible for working closely with the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager and other relevant program staff to support objectives of the right whale campaign, contribute to day-to-day campaign activities, assist with funding proposals, reporting, and other relevant tasks, as requested. The Marine Campaign Assistant manages discrete components of the right whale campaign as requested by the Sr. Marine Campaign Manager to meet objectives and represents the Program to both internal and external audiences as necessary.
