- We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to install and maintain ships' piping systems such as steam, heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure, and oil lines.
- You will follow blueprints, layouts, and work orders using hand tools and shop machines.
- Your role involves planning the layout of pipe sections, cutting and boring holes in bulkheads and decks for installation, and ensuring the system meets specifications.
- Plan layout of pipe sections, allowing for conformance to specifications, obstructions, and holes.
- Cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for installation of pipes.
- Operate shop machines to cut and thread pipe and pipe fittings including valves, traps, and thermostats.
- Bend pipes to specified shapes on pipe-bending fixtures.
- Bolt or weld pipe brackets to support pipe systems.
- Connect pipes to fixtures such as heat exchangers, laundry and galley equipment, pumps, tanks, and other ship equipment.
- Repair, pack, and adjust valves.
- Test installed systems for leaks to ensure that the system meets specifications.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in pipe fitting.
- Proficient in silver brazing and able to pass a hands-on silver braze assessment.
- Knowledge of basic marine piping systems, blueprint readings, silver-brazing procedures, and military specifications.
- Ability to perform marine pipefitting, bending, burning, and read blueprints and follow exact tolerances.
- Proficient in fabrication, installation, and testing of marine piping systems.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and spool sheets.
- Must be able to work independently and set up work area with appropriate tools and materials in shop or on board ship.
- Flexible with 1st and 2nd shift
- Work will be performed at NBSD 32nd St aboard the USS Boxer. The role involves using various tools and equipment, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards is essential. Flexibility for 1st or 2nd shift work is required.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
