      A Day in the Life

Medtronic is among the largest medical technology companies in the world. Through innovation and collaboration, Medtronic helps to alleviate pain, restore health and extend life. Last year, our medical therapies for the treatment of over 40 major conditions, improved the lives of more than 75 million people around the world.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a life transforming therapy for patients with movement disorders. Following two successful years of launching BrainSenseTM and most recently AdaptiveDBS technology to the market we are delighted to look for a new Market Development Manager role in the UK&I. Despite the life-transforming opportunity of the therapy, less than 1 in 10 patients in the UK have the opportunity to access DBS.

We are looking for a passionate, energetic and experienced market developer to challenge this. The role will work to identify barriers at both a national and hospital level that restrict patients access to DBS and work to develop and implement solutions. The successful applicant will get the opportunity to work alongside an experienced, successful and passionate team in the UK and would join the team at a genuinely exciting time for the therapy and Medtronic.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

      • Secure continuous new patient growth in the short, medium and long term by developing and executing market development plans at both the national and hospital level
      • Build and execute plans that gain routine reimbursement for future DBS indications across the UK
      • Identify key national/hospital level barriers that restrict access to DBS for patients with movement disorders with use of professional societies, patient groups and internal stakeholders, and implement bespoke solutions to overcome these barriers
      • Identify hospitals with an appetite to increase patients presenting for DBS surgery
      • Assist hospitals, where appropriate, in building business cases that outline the clinical and economic advantages of investing to overcome barriers to access DBS
      • Define clear KPIs and measure execution to show how the market development strategy is supporting the commercial activities and addressing the strategic priorities
      • Be accountable for the execution of key market development programs by partnering closely with the sales teams, country and regional marketing teams

      Required Knowledge and Experience:

      • Business or Healthcare related (medical or scientific) University degree or its equivalent with 5+ years of experience in the healthcare industry
      • Positive attitude with strong entrepreneurial skills who brings passion, energy and a desire for excellence to their work, business acumen
      • Flexible in nature and comfortable with extensive travel (70%+ of time) across the UK, occasional travel beyond the UK and Ireland
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and fluency in English

We would like you to have proven success in a market development role with experience in movement disorder and knowledge of the UK healthcare system and business case generation.
