      Viking Enterprise Solutions, a division of Sanmina Corporation, is responsible for the design of high performance storage and server systems for the OEM/JDM marketplace. Due to our continued success and growth, VES has an opportunity for a senior-level Mechanical Design Engineer. This is an opportunity to join the VES team for an exciting career on the cutting edge in data storage product and server product design.

      Job Purpose:

      The Mechanical Design Engineer will participate in the mechanical development of data storage and server systems consisting of numerous hard drives with high speed communication interfaces. The project teams consist of cross-functional personnel and as a member your creative thinking and judgment will contribute to the overall resolution of technical, logistical, cost, and schedule issues for the program. This is a high-impact, high visibility opportunity for the right individual who has developed a substantial skill-set, has good self-management abilities, a can-do attitude and an enthusiasm for success.

      Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

       Design work – participate in various server and storage enclosures and sub-assemblies designs including

       sheet metal

       plastic design

       Drive mounting and carrier design

       Focus on tolerance analysis, usability, reuse, manufacturability, materials

       Thermal analysis and design ○ Functional team leadership

       Vender development

       Intellectual property generation

       Perform design simulations to ensure “right-the-first-time” designs

       Transport rack and crate design, prototype and validation

       Component drawing and BOM system creation

       Mechanical execution of tests and publication of test results

       Work with outside suppliers as necessary to meet cost targets and schedules

       Contribute to design process enhancements

       Domestic and international travel may be required to support manufacturing and component fabrication

      Education and Experience:

       BSME degree required, MSME desired

       0-2 years of related experience

       Proficient in Solidworks and Solidworks Flow

       Experience with design for thermal performance

       Excels in team atmosphere

      Salary Range(annual): $65,000 - $75,000

      Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
