      Job Description

      We are a manufacturing company based out of Laporte, Indiana with over 50 years of experience in the development and production of heavy-duty geotechnical drilling machines and supplementary equipment. We require engineering support and constant product improvement across multiple revenue streams. The ideal candidate will be experienced in hydraulic and electronic controls, static and dynamic force analysis, welded and sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical power transmission. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will apply your engineering expertise both in the office and on the shop floor. Most designs will initially involve updates to existing drawings, with a shift to more new products after six months. You will also support the floor to help diagnose quality or part issues related to design.

      Responsibilities

      • Designing using carbon steels, round stock, and tubing
      • Updating existing drawings and developing new product designs
      • Supporting the floor to diagnose and troubleshoot quality or part issues
      • Managing and owning projects while receiving coaching and guidance
      • Applying engineering expertise in both office and shop floor settings

      Essential Skills

      • Proficiency in SolidWorks (AutoCAD, Fusion, Creo also acceptable)
      • Understanding of design for fabrication or machined parts, and weldments
      • Aptitude for troubleshooting and root cause analysis

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology
      • Experience with industrial equipment
      • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

      Work Environment

      Our work environment involves designing, fabricating, and assembling everything in-house. Initially, the role will involve 90% design work and 10% floor support, transitioning to 70% desk work and 30% floor support after six months. Projects typically last 6 to 12 months, and you will be 1 of 2 engineers, allowing you to manage projects and gain valuable experience.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.06/hr.
