- Clinical Responsibilities:
- Practice within the Medical Assistant scope of practice and maintain annual competencies.
- Provide quality care to patients under the supervision of Procedural APP, Nurse Manager, RNs, and LPNs.
- Prepare patients for examination, take vitals (height, weight, blood pressure), purpose of visit, and record patients' health history into the electronic medical record.
- Perform CLIA waived Point of Care testing such as urine collection and glucose testing.
- Schedule patients.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
- Assist provider with medical treatments and procedures.
- Demonstrate flexibility to optimize clinic flow, minimize patient wait times, maximize provider productivity in the clinic, and optimize the patient experience.
- Participate in the clinic orientation of new team members.
- Participate in and support Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities.
- Coordinate care for Trillium Health patients by working with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to facilitate care and keep patients engaged.
- Demonstrate positive communication and teamwork within the clinic and between departments.
- Documentation:
- Document all clinical care clearly, thoroughly, accurately, and timely.
- Order and maintain inventory of medications/supplies.

- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional training in medical assistant and Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting in an outpatient or inpatient setting is required.
- Ability to demonstrate teamwork and effective interpersonal relations skills is imperative.
- Excellent written/oral communication, understanding of healthcare terminology, and computer skills are required.
- Experience working in community-based healthcare settings is preferred.
- Experience with chronic diseases in an outpatient setting is preferred.
- Previous experience with an Electronic Health Record is preferred.
- Current CPR certification is preferred.
- Experience working with HIV/AIDS clients is preferred.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend, and lift or move up to 25 lbs28.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Workweek Schedule: Monday-Friday 37.50 hour work week. *
*Schedules vary depending on the Provider team assigned to. Typically 4 days per week 8:30am -5:00 pm with a shorter work day on the 5th day.
Purpose: Under the direction of the Supervisor, LPN & MAs, the Medical Assistant functions as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient. This position is required to support all Trillium Health practices and events as requested. This position should be familiar with Internal Medicine practice including Adult Primary Care, Pediatrics, and Gynecology1.
