What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review, analyze, and interpret provider documentation for procedure and diagnosis code selection
- Perform audits of provider coding and documentation, making recommendations for improvements
- Maintain a close working relationship with assigned providers, addressing coding discrepancies as they arise
- Conduct provider coding orientation and education sessions, documenting all information presented
- Review hospital, clinical, and surgical documentation, releasing charges in the Epic system while correcting discrepancies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of experience coding professional services in multiple specialties
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other equivalent coding certification required
- Extensive knowledge of official coding guidelines established by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
- Thorough understanding of professional coding differences in clinic versus hospital settings

- Strong research skills to address coding inquiries effectively
