      Job summary

      We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the Microbiology laboratory at Path Links, Scunthorpe General Hospital.

      MLA duties are varied and include receiving and labelling a range of samples. As an MLA you will assist Biomedical Scientists to provide a high-quality service while adhering to the Trust values of compassion, honesty, respect and teamwork.

      The applicants should have a good standard of general education as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants should be able to demonstrate organisational skills, attention to detail, a good knowledge of computers and an ability to learn new tasks. Experience is desirable but not necessary as full training will be provided.

      The laboratory delivers a range of investigations, is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189:2012 and is an IBMS approved training laboratory.

      Applicants must be available for a face-to-face interview which will include a practical assessment.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will work as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) performing a range of microbiological and serological techniques to assist the Biomedical Scientists in the clinical diagnosis of microbiological disease.

      Following training, the post holder will be expected to participate in the shift rota which will include working weekends, bank holidays and evening shifts.
