      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Abstract, sequence, and assign diagnosis and procedure codes according to ICD-10-CM coding conventions
      - Generate coding worksheets and maintain accurate medical records as required by hospital policy
      - Review billing rejection audits and address questions from the billing department
      - Communicate with physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures
      - Assist in training new personnel and conducting quality control audits of coding accuracy

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Two years of occupationally specific education or an Associate's degree
      - Minimum of four years of acute care hospital-based inpatient coding experience
      - Current certification by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as either a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) with CCS
      - Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance issues related to coding, documentation, and billing
      - Ability to provide leadership and support in decision-making within the Coding Unit

      - Familiarity with specialized coding software and tools
      - Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with medical staff
      - Knowledge of current coding guidelines and healthcare regulations
