- An advanced degree in life sciences (MD, OD, PharmD,PhD or equivalent)
- 1-2 years MSL experience Or 2 years as a Senior MSL
- 2-3 years of relevant in practice or research experience
- 2-3 years minimum experience as a field MSL or clinical practice
- Has an established track record of effective and influential oral presentations within the healthcare profession (has given at least 10 large audience presentations)
- Established relationships and list of contacts in assigned therapeutic area required
- 2+ years of demonstrative therapeutic experience/research or substantive patient care experience
- Medical, clinical or research experience in the assigned disease area is preferred
- Experience in “start-up” environments
- Prior work with rare or orphan disease products
- Ophthalmology experience and relationships in anterior segment therapeutic area, in both private clinic and hospital/academic setting
- Experience in new product launches
- Exceptional clinical acumen with the proven ability to excel in a scientifically complex and stimulating environment
- Proven track record of exceeding business goals
- Keeps current and develops deeper and broader experience in own functional area

Our R&D hub is currently based in Boston, and the commercial organization is housed in the San Francisco Bay Area.PURPOSE OF THE ROLEUnder the guidance of the Field Medical Director, East, the Mid-Atlantic Medical Science Liaison (MSL)/Sr. Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL) helps execute the Country medical affairs plans related primarily to KOL engagement and data dissemination. In a compliant manner, the MSL partners and collaborates with KOLs, investigators and other stakeholders in patient care, establishes strong professional relationships, provides credible scientific expertise and serves as a field-based extension of the country Therapeutic Area team. Effectively managers requests from HCPs and KOLs in a timely manner, while executing on all proactive activities. Maintains personal expertise in relevant disease areas and MSL best practices that can be applied externally and internally.The Mid-Atlantic territory consists of: NJ, PA, MD, DC (candidate must reside within this region).MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ROLEKOL Engagement- Building Advocacy and Partnerships• Through compliant scientific exchange, builds and maintains professional relationships with external stakeholders to expand company• Ensure high standard of professionalism to develop and maintain “peer-to-peer” scientific relationships with key thought leaders in healthcare, academia, payer, and government organizations per strategic territory plans and as requested by KOLs, including the management of strategic scientific partnerships and scientific exchange• Provide scientific liaison support to Investigators currently involved in the sponsored interventional or observational studies and investigator initiated research• Serve as a liaison between healthcare practitioners (HCPs) and other functions• Facilitate 1:1 and group scientific interactions with healthcare professionals• Create annual KOL engagement plan and maintain list of KOLs and HCPs on a monthly basis• Create and maintain KOL plans and update medical customer relationship management system in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner• Execute field medical affairs tactics and meet all metrics, while also responding to reactive medical requests as needed and supporting PIs for company sponsored trials• Solicits key strategic research ideas from top research KOLs and HCPs to create IIRs and engage for company sponsored trials in assigned territoryEducational Presentations and Data Dissemination:• Contribute to effective and compliant data dissemination according to country medical affairs plan• Ensure appropriate scientific exchange with HCPs by fostering scientific communications• Presentation on clinical and disease state information to a variety of audiences (KOLs, HCPs, hospital/decision making teams, etc.) upon requests and/or according to country medical plansField Planning and Congress Leadership:• Call planning before each meeting to ensure effective communication of key scientific initiatives• Create regional congress plans for your assigned territories to attend and execute activities at regional conferences• Support execution of national congress strategy and coordinating meetings with speakers and KOLs at conferences 1:1• Respond within defined timelines and quality standards, to unsolicited inquiries from HCPs and other• Conduct therapeutic training as requested for cross functional partners• Create territory plan to effectively communicate key medical insights from KOLs/HCPs to inform refinement of medical strategies or tactics• Lead IIR interactions with key research KOLs, liaise all IIR information to physicians and internal team• Responsible for keeping investigators on track per the study deadlines for all IIRs and company sponsored trials in the US. And ensuring continuous collaboration with the PI/KOL.• Provide field-based medical support to clinical research programs, registries, and facilitation of the investigator-initiated research process• Participates on internal project teams as directed by ManagerKnowledge, expertise and insights management• Maintain awareness of and access to internal and external information sources available to support high-quality scientific exchange with HCP• Develop/increase knowledge of medical literature and critical appraisal of scientific publications• Maintain knowledge base and scientific expertise on all assigned disease areas and products• Maintaining personal expertise in MSL best practices• Develop and update knowledge of applicable pharmaceutical guidelines and regulations. $130,000 - $198,000 a yearAt Dompe, we offer an attractive compensation package to our team members. Any offer would include a competitive base salary (estimate shared above), incentive bonus, and benefits package customary to the position.
