      Overview

      Marquis provides a Medication Aide Training course for people interested in becoming a Certified Medication Aide (CMA). This training course is designed for individuals that have a desire to further their professional development within senior healthcare. We are interested in training people that are passionate and committed about pursuing a career in the Long-Term Care industry.

      The primary responsibility of a student that is selected for the Marquis Companies Medication Aide Training Course is to acquire the knowledge, skills and certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) by successfully completing the entire course. This class prepares you to take the State of Oregon CMA certification exam.

      For consideration into our training course, you begin by submitting an application electronically. If your application is selected for an interview, it will be determined after the interview if you are accepted into the Marquis Companies Medication Aide Training Course.

      This fast-paced program consists of classroom instruction, lab setting simulations with in-person demonstrations and a robust clinical experience. Courses will be in session Monday through Friday.


      Qualifications

      The Oregon State Board of Nursing requires all candidates to meet the following criteria for admission into a Medication Aide Training Course:

      1. Current CNA1 status on the Oregon CNA Registry.
      2. Documentation of graduation from an approved basic nursing assistant level 1 education program at least six months prior to enrollment in the medication aide training course.
      3. Documentation of at least six months full time experience as a CNA or the equivalent in part time experience.

      To be successful in our training course, we have expectations that our students will:

      • Be professional, attentive and ready to participate.
      • 2 – 3 hours of studying per night.
      • Ability to lift forty (40) pounds.
      • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
      • Ability to read, write, and understand/comprehend the English language.

      For enrollment into this course, you must be able to provide legal documentation establishing your identity and eligibility to be legally employed in the United States; pass a criminal background check; and pass employment reference checks.
