- Develop seasonal plan strategies for assigned categories under supervision
- Present business priorities and opportunities within areas of responsibility
- Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
- Support the planning team in the management of inventory levels
- Keep an ongoing knowledge of all Magnolia products
- Provide reporting for analysis that supports seasonal buying strategies and decisions
- Build reports for analysis of markdowns and promotions, and maintain markdown and promotional pricing
- Create allocation transfer plans to support sales and inventory supply
- Perform o ther duties as assigned
- Hard s kills : P roficiency in Microsoft Excel required, f oundation in retail math and financial acumen
- Soft skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, h ighly resourceful team-player with the ability to work effectively and independently, proactive and solution-oriented, s trong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university required
- Experience: 1 + years of related work experience preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

SUMMARY
At Magnolia, the Assistant Merchandise Planner is responsible for assisting with the execution of merchandise planning functions. This position helps to prepare various reports to inform management in projections that will guide business decision-making and understands key metrics such as sales, gross margin, inventory and order value, and weeks of supply . This position works from Magnolia Headquarters in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Senior Merchandise Planner or Merchandise Planner and has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONSPHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit; use hands and arms to reach, handle, feel; utilize fine motor dexterity of fingers; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. General, verbal, and numerical intelligence is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
