- You will create high fidelity simulations and models for missile design, performance assessment, and flight tests
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation of modeling solutions, and subsequently conduct trade studies and evaluation of system and subsystem performance
- You will work in a team environment, receiving inputs from the team supervisors and providing guidance and/or direction to other team members
- You will collaborate with Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Signal Processing, and other performance personnel to perform simulation activities according to the program schedule
- You will collaborate with Rocket Motor and Mechanical personnel to ensure the simulation best represents the current state of the design
- You will support systems test work through test event gates (Consent To Ship review, Test Readiness Review, software/sim Formal Qualification Test)
- You will provide technical expertise for the simulation products of a specific program, and assist Senior Modeling Engineers in the preparation of detailed plans, and may interact with government counterparts as an authority on simulation products
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and eight (8) years or more of documented work and/or academic experience in the following areas:
- Experience programming in C++, C, or other high order language
- Experience using MATLAB or Python for evaluation of data sets
- Experience visualizing complex data sets in an easy-to-understand way
- Experience developing or simulating physical systems
- Academic or work experience in modeling, simulation, statistics, or analysis for existing or proposed engineering solutions
- Two (2) years of experience managing others and interacting with other engineering disciplines
- An active and current Department of Defense Security Clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related STEM degree
- Experience managing others using applied system engineering principals and interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines
- Experience in mission planning
- Experience with rocket motor modeling
- Experience supporting flight tests and other test events
- Experience performing link margin analysis for test events
- Experience processing and analyzing flight test telemetry
- Experience developing and presenting technical briefings
- Experience executing Verification and Validation (V&V) plans
- Experience utilizing medium fidelity modeling to estimate the Size, Weight, and Power requirements for a clean sheet design
- Experience working with signal processing / GNC algorithms or models for missile applications
- Experience using Software Configuration Management tools
- Course work or experience in some of the following fields: radar, signal & image processing, digital communications, probability and statistics, linear algebra, estimation theory, optimal control, system architecture, inertial navigation, guidance theory
- Experience with radar and/or EO/IR environment models
- Experience using UNIX/Linux based workstations
- Experience working on a team and by yourself
- Current/Active DoD security clearance

Job Summary :
As the Principal Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis Engineer “Modeling & Simulation Mission Analysis Lead,” you will participate in multi-disciplinary work across integrated product teams consisting of Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Signal Processing, Rocket Motor, Mechanical, and missile-and-sensor-level Performance Simulations. Our Performance Simulation teams provide, develop, and maintain high fidelity performance simulations, evaluate system performance, support new business initiatives and develop & implement technology roadmaps.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
