Job Description

- Maintain injection molding production.
- Repair and maintain auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to molding and die processes.
- Machine Check sheets.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and performance of the Molding Department.
- Upkeep of L2L dispatches and TPM.
- Complete documentation and reports as necessary.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
- Promote and carry out Astemo core values, company policies, procedures, and philosophy.
- Clearly communicate through written and verbal skills with people outside the department/suppliers.
- Analyze test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.
- Create and implement procedures.
- Coordinate with suppliers for accurate part manufacturing and delivery deadlines. (More heavily).
- Develop and deliver presentations, train others. Support and develop process technicians through training in scientific molding practices as well as deliver presentations.
- Modifying equipment to accept new tooling changes.
- Communicate with outside suppliers.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in mold and die design.
- Understanding safety standards and regulations in molding and die processes.
- Willingness to work occasional(?) overtime and weekends as needed.
- Experience in mentoring and developing associate members of the molding process development team.
- Establish process conditions through scientific molding for new products.
- Troubleshoot molding processes and material or equipment issues.
- Evaluate tooling for areas of concern, areas of improvement for quality and efficiency, and recommend improvements to optimize molding, setup, and overall manufacturing.
- Collect and analyze data on individual processes to identify and improve process capability.
- Document and maintain mold process sheets for accuracy.
- Organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Intake Manifold and Hitachi Astemo systems.
- 4 Year degree in technical discipline +1-4 years related work experience OR 10+ years of direct applicable experience in injection molding. Ability to read and interpret equipment blueprints.
- Tig welding / Mig welding.
- General machining knowledge, knee mill and engine lathe.
- 2-year degree in Technical Discipline plus 1-2 years related work experience OR 5-8 years of related injection molding work experience (tool and die, mold machine maintenance).
- Experience in hydraulics, high voltage electrical systems (480 volts max).
- Basic experience in computer systems and spreadsheets necessary to perform job duties.
- General computer skills.
- Basic experience required in Windows, MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel, L2L.
- Ability to work for long periods of time while sitting.
- Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen.
- Full motor skills.
- Regular viewing of computer monitors, and other visual displays.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal direct supervision or daily direction.
- Ability to attend meetings outside of standard work hours as needed (AM or PM meetings).
- On-site work will be within the factory office setting, where noise can be present.
- Ability to grip and grasp, repetitive use of hands.
- 5% international and domestic travel

Molding Specialist I
Location: Muncie, IN, USA
The purpose of this position is to implement repairs and improvement activities on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment as well as maintaining TPM activities. The Molding Specialist I is responsible for setting up, testing, and optimizing process conditions to ensure efficient and stable production operations. This role works closely with technicians, operators, and other team members to troubleshoot issues, maintain smooth workflow, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include gathering and analyzing process data to identify opportunities for improvement, maintaining accurate process sheets and documentation, and participating in efforts to reduce waste, enhance product quality, and lower manufacturing costs.
