      Position: Monitor, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

      Department: Family Services

      Reports to: Family Child Care Network Director

      Hours: Full-Time

      Salary: $38,000 - $40,000

      FLSA: Non- Exempt

      Location: On-site

      Position Summary:

      Union Settlement is seeking a proactive candidate who is creative, flexible, detail-oriented, and collaborative to lead its Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). CACFP is a USDA program that reimburses family childcare providers for the nutritious meals and snacks they serve to eligible children. The CACFP Monitor provides ongoing in-home monitoring and yearly nutritional training. The CACFP Monitor also provides linkages to professional development opportunities, and coaching and technical assistance to support childcare provider's efforts to achieve and maintain quality standards. The CACFP Monitor will also serve as a liaison with partner agencies and organizations.       Responsibilities :


      • Design and deliver a comprehensive array of services to promote, enroll, and sustain increased participation in CACFP.
      • For each program year, recruit new providers (registered/licensed) through the distribution of materials showing the benefits and supports.
      • Prepare CACFP packets for new providers on the food program.
      • Create and update engaging training curriculum in accordance with CACFP and health regulations once a year.
      • Plan, organize, and deliver mandated training sessions to groups of providers as required.
      • Maintain records related to mandatory training completion.
      • Develop relevant mealtime and nutrition education resources for use by childcare providers.
      • Provide materials on health & nutrition to childcare providers for their use and distribution to parents.
      • Conduct monitoring visits (announced and unannounced) throughout the borough of Manhattan in accordance with contract requirements and timelines to childcare provider homes.
      • Collect and review monthly meal claim reporting from each childcare program.
      • Ensure that posted daily menus coincide with submitted paperwork, track meal counts, and file meal count documentation.
      • Communicate and report outcome/visit findings with the Family and Childcare Network Director and assist in creating a corrective action plan when necessary.
      • Enter monitoring and enrollment visits into CIPS and Minute Menu in a timely manner.
      • Provide targeted technical assistance to new and experienced providers according to their assessed needs in nutritional planning, meal/snack service, and documentation.
      • Generate and submit accurate reporting to the State database and internal finance/accounting partners.
      • Submit claims for payment to the Finance Department.
      • Coordinate, collect, and submit all necessary records for program reviews conducted by the state.
      • Create, update, and disseminate templates, reporting, and self-auditing materials.
      • Attend staff meetings and supervision sessions with Family Child Care Network Director.
      • Other duties related to CACFP as assigned by Family and Childcare Network Director.

      Qualifications:

      • BA/BS in Nutrition, Early Childhood Education; Human Development & Family Studies, Human Ecology, Social Work, Public Health or related field; AA to be considered if coupled with direct work experience with CACFP.
      • Knowledge of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
      • Exposure to and respect for early care and education, and family child care specifically.
      • Proficiency with technology, including database and spreadsheet applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Ability to work with individuals of various backgrounds and cultures, demonstrating cultural responsiveness.
      • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
      • Understanding of how intersecting systems of race, gender, and class shape conditions for family childcare providers and the children and families they serve.
      • A desire to contribute to a workplace and profession that values collaboration, diversity, growth, and respect for all people.
      • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.
