      Work Schedule: 7p-7a; Fri., Sat., Sun.

      Job Summary: Provides cardiac monitoring to an assigned group of patients and compiles data with established guidelines.

      Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

      Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

      Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Pass Dysrhythmia Test with 80% score, initially and annually

      Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides cardiac monitoring to an assigned group of patients utilizing dysrhythmia recognition skills and knowledge. Sets/maintains computer alarms appropriate to each patient, according to diagnoses, age, dysrhythmia, medications, and procedures. Interprets rhythms accurately. Interacts with computer correctly. Demonstrates sound judgment and appropriate communication skills. Seeks appropriate consultation from Nurse in a timely manner. Uses emergency phone line appropriately. Communicates with remote hospitals and other monitored areas in a friendly and courteous manner. Documents data according to unit/hospital policy. Maintains up-to-date, accurate patient identification roster. Documents on unit flow sheets/patient records accurately and consistently. Performs environmental activities to maintain clean and orderly work area. Completes assigned unit duties. Leaves station in a clean and orderly condition at completion of shift. Supports unit/hospital goals through participation in PI activities. Assists with monitoring activities. Modifies behaviors of performance to comply with care standards and meet established guidelines.

      Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

      Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
