Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Radiographic Department Assistant posts in the MRI department to help support the trusts CDC sites here at UHDB.
You will play a pivotal role within our team and are often the first point of contact for many of the patients who attend our department.
You will greet and assist patients before, during and after procedures, preparing the patients for their MRI examination. Good communication skills are essential. You will also assist withduties as allocated under the direction and supervision of the radiographer and always following Trust Policies and Procedures.
To be responsible for maintaining stock levels to assist in the training of new support staff, enabling them to become fully conversant with the duties applicable to them.
Training will be provided to perform IV cannulations.
The successful candidates to work at one of our main UHDB and CDC sites. They will have a base site, however they may be required to work across site subject to service need.
Main duties of the job
The radiographic department assistant will work closely as part of the multidisciplinary team in Imaging with other disciplines including medical, nursing and AHPs regarding diagnostic MRI imaging.
To assist with patient care, hoisting, changing, moving and administration of patients arriving in all areas of the Imaging Department, and continue that care where necessary throughout the imaging process.
To be familiar with all routine procedures and provide support for a defined range of specialised procedures, eg. complex MRI exams, cardiac/stress scans, small bowel prep and patient monitoring to facilitate individualised patient care and smooth running of the service
To support infection control measures in the Imaging Department, eg. assist with preparation of rooms and cleaning up afterwards.
To be responsible for the general cleaning and quality assurance programme for the MRI associated equipment under supervision from the clinical staff.
To be responsible for stock control and storage management of contrast agents and routine deliveries.
