We are looking for a MOD Senior Engineering Manager who will have the responsibility to drive the MOD business to the next level in North America. The role is part of a Global Engineering team and will require frequent travels in NA.

As the MOD Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers that executes complex cross-functional projects and programs that focus on the building of new, the alteration of existing, and the closing of end-of-life technology systems for better ones, across the whole region. The ideal candidate must have a proven history of engineering leadership, responsibility for large projects, cost control & capital management responsibility, and driving innovation across a high-performing engineering organization.

To be successful in this role you will need to be an influencer and capable of working effectively with senior leaders across multiple organizations. You will also need to be a proven team leader, engineering leader, diligent project manager, communicator and problem solver. You will set high standards in your team to manage large, complex initiatives, deal with ambiguity and advocate on behalf of the customer.


Purpose of the job:
The MOD Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for the success of all projects owned by his/her team in his/her geography. He/she drives the team of engineers, gives them the vision, energizes and enables them to succeed completing all projects while considering the complex cross-functional team organization. His/her main areas of responsibilities are the following:
• Responsible for successful completion of all MOD Engineering projects in his/her geography (e.g. Europe, North America)
• Fully understand and ensure procedural adherence to Amazon-specific project management structure, as well as to industry operating standards
• Drive engineering best practices (e.g. operational excellence, safety, security, quality, performance, etc.) and set standards for project execution and installation management
• Build strong relationships with partner organizations within the company such as Start-up team, Launch team, WW Design team, Procurement, IT, Loss Prevention, Facilities, Safety, Change Management, Operations and RME.
• Lead and develop a best-in-class, scalable Engineering team; design and execute the team strategy to scale the Engineering function ahead of the launch and expansion curve. Develop path for succession planning and team flexibility
• Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and other teams to guarantee a collaborative success of the projects
• Demonstrate full ownership and responsibility for all aspects of Engineering issue management in his/her geography, taking both reactive measures, and building proactive strategies
• Responsible for MOD equipment specifications compliance, and for driving standardization across the geography, in line with the global MOD specifications
• Provide technical expertise to support Design & Construction teams in designing and building any new MOD facilities in his/her region
• Promote improvement in MOD’s operations effectiveness, through process design and cost reduction projects driven by his/her team
• Responsible of applying the Amazon Safety Policy and working with the Safety team to improve safety on site
• Drive Factory-Acceptance-Test and Site-Acceptance-Test to qualify new MOD technology in the geography
• Lead all required certifications (safety, environmental, etc) for any new technology in his/her region, including regulatory certification as well as additional Amazon expectations
• Actively participate in strategy and performance meetings for his/her geography

The role requires the ability to deal with ambiguity due to the nature of the Manufacture-On-Demand business:
- The MOD technology is unique within the Amazon organization. The MOD Senior Engineering Manager must be able to work under high autonomy, and ready to go beyond his own boundaries and coordinate multiple independent stakeholders to successfully lead his team.
- The MOD technology is a fast moving area with constant new innovation, driving opportunities for faster, cheaper and more flexible processes. The MOD Engineering team needs to follow the trends of the new technology, and drive Amazon-specific trials with the suppliers to promote the future technology improvement in the MOD facilities.
- The MOD organization is structured under a global network, with global Operations & Engineering standards. The MOD Engineering team must reinforce these standards in the existing facilities, and must comply with them supporting the design of a new facility.
- The MOD organization is a fast paced environment with stretched schedule between business decision and actions. The MOD Engineering team must be ready to travel and work hands-on to ensure immediate and good decision-making process. The MOD Senior Engineering Manager must ensure the team is able to provide the required on-site support when needed.

Virtual Location - USA- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience is required
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar senior role, ideally in a fast-paced industrial, logistics, production or manufacturing environment
- Ability to travel - Demonstrated ability to work with a cross-functional team across design, engineering, and operations to deliver complex solutions
- Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Superior verbal and written communications skills
- AutoCAD basic knowledge- Master’s degree or similar in Engineering or Operations
- Experience managing multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
- Experience working in publishing or manufacturing industry
- Experience working in a "Manufacturing-On-Demand" industry
- 10+ years of experience in a similar field or related occupation of Design/Innovation, Research & Development, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $233,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
