- Manage all aspects of trade spending to ensure funds are effectively utilized in a fair and equitable manner consistent with Brand promotional strategies to achieve merchandising objectives
- Direct and monitor execution of account plans to achieve volume objectives and key sales priorities (distribution, pricing, shelving, and merchandising)
- Monitor post-promotional analysis on a consumer basis to access the impact of promotions, and make appropriate adjustments to refine and improve results
- Execute Customer Planning Model (Assess, Build, Commit, Execute) including assisting the Pet Specialty Director in the Joint Business Planning process
- Provide strategic input into the Smucker annual and on-going planning processes, reflecting marketplace and customer requirements, along with participation & leadership through PetSmart’s annual Joint Business Planning
- Effectively manage administrative responsibilities including information requests, competitive intelligence, results tracking and analysis, expense reports, forecasts, deduction management, etc.
- Working closely with Category Management and the Business Analytics teams, understand the consumer & category insight tools and resources available to help lead the identification of opportunities to create actionable insight and action plans
- Develop internal relationships across Customer & Brand Commercialization, Finance, Revenue Growth Management & Demand Planning to help achieve business objectives for the PetSmart business
- Understand the customer’s strategy and capitalize on opportunities to link their strategy with Smucker’s to build a competitive advantage
- Develop persuasive business presentations to identify short-term and long-term opportunities with the customer
- Work to strengthen the Company’s strategic relationship with PetSmart by building rapport and developing strong relationships with the account Merchants and other points of contact
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum five (5) years of headquarter retail account experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods industry
- Experience in direct sales
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships both internally and externally
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Nielsen, IRI, or other syndicated sales data experience
- Willingness to meet travel expectations of a minimum 25% (as business needs require)
- Experience managing accounts in the Pet Industry
Your Opportunity as National Account Manager, Specialty Markets (Pet-US Retail Sales)
The National Account Manager has direct account responsibility for a portion of the pet business with PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus and Tractor Supply. Primary responsibilities include customer relationship management, forecasting, margin improvement, assortment optimization, managing promotions within the trade management system, and following Pet SBA strategies and objectives to deliver business results.
Work Location/Arrangements: Working Remotely in the United States and reside near major airport. Preferred location: Midwest to West States
