Job Description

- Develop, implement and monitor the sales plan to meet assigned budget. Establish territory quotas and achieve the quarterly and annual sales and profit plan as assigned.
- Responsible for the direction, support and motivation of the sales team to meet agreed targets and objectives.
- Own the channel strategy in India, including the identification of key market segments and strategic focus areas and initiatives
- Routinely forecast, monitor, and control selling and other expenses for the district within assigned expense budgets.
- Routinely and accurately forecast customer demand (i.e., product quantities and dollars, orders, shipments), ensure that sales staff achieves their forecasts, follows company guidelines/ practices/ policies, and provide timely development plans to correct for underperformance.
- Possesses a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape including clinical genomics testing, research and large scale genomic initiatives, and reimbursement.
- Coordinates and communicates clinical strategic business plans effectively to the team.
- Develops and manages the strategic sales plans and activities of the sales team and channel partners.
- Drive a high level of interaction and engagement between other departments (e.g., Marketing, Customer Solutions) and local sales team & staff to ensure coordination of activities and alignment on common goals.
- Mentor and coach partners to improve effectiveness and shorten cycles. Responsible for the recruitment, development, retention, and management of the sales team.
- Graduate/Post Graduate or equivalent degree in Life Sciences. MBA or PhD is a plus.
- A minimum of 9+ years of sales experience in the Life Sciences / Medical Devices / Diagnostics industry
- A minimum of 3-6 years of sales management experience in the industry
- Ability to travel within the territory to carry out primary responsibilities (up to 50%)
- Must be able to build relationships at a very high level
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication skills.

The National Sales Manager will lead our sales team across India. This role will be responsible for leading the execution of Illumina’s commercial strategies, ensuring budgeted annual sales and profit objectives are met within designated territories. This position requires a high degree of cross-functional leadership and organizational skills, creativity and critical thinking, and proven written and verbal communication skills.
