      What you’ll do

      The Neighborhood Assistant Branch Leader (ABL) champions the Canvas Credit Union vision pillars, including being known for our heart, our people, our ease of use, being a leader in our communities, and ensuring our branch is a household name in the communities we serve. The Neighborhood ABL will work closely with the Branch Leader in guiding branch Canvas Family members to provide exceptional service to our members. In addition, they will observe, coach, and develop branch family members to deepen our relationship with our members. They support the Branch Leader with daily branch functions and lead by example in delivering consistent excellent member service. The Neighborhood branches typically are the largest and busiest branches in the credit union network based on several factors, including team size, transaction and production volume, and membership base.

      Essential Duties/Responsibilities

      • Ensure members receive consistent exceptional service by all Canvas Family members at all touch points in the branch.
      • Review all branch productivity reports, conduct ongoing analyses of branch activities, workflow, and operations, utilizing strategies devised for meeting sales and member service goals.
      • Consistently exceed credit union goals when performing member financial transactions, opening new accounts, taking loan applications, and selling products and services.
      • Take appropriate action to resolve member issues promptly and coach Canvas Family members to do the same.
      • Work with Branch Leader to evaluate, develop, motivate, and train branch family members. Observe and coach Canvas Family members in sales and service activities. Ensure branch Canvas Family members has strong product and process knowledge.
      • Work with Branch Leader to achieve sales and growth goals, conduct daily huddles, weekly Canvas Family members meetings, observe, coach, and develop Canvas Family members. Develop partnerships with other business groups/partners that work with the branch.
      • Work with the branch leader to ensure branch meets or exceeds all branch operations expectations.
      • Deepen member relationships by cross-selling products and services through advanced understanding of all financial products and services.
      • Maintain thorough knowledge of lending processes, security and fraud procedures, and the functions of all automated equipment. Serve as a branch-wide source of knowledge on credit union operating procedures to provide necessary support to branch Canvas Family members.
      • Responsible for all management functions including hiring, training, conducting monthly one-on-ones, performance management, conflict resolution, scheduling, cross-training and succession planning, timekeeping, etc.
      • Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets.
      • Ensure the application of, and compliance with regulations, policies, procedures, and operational integrity. Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.
      • Keep informed on developments and trends in the financial services industry, particularly regarding new products, services, and technological advances.
      • Share knowledge with branch Canvas Family members on effective practices, competitive intelligence, business opportunities and needs.
      • Recommend and help develop and implement new policies and procedures.
      • Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
      • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
      • Perform other job duties as assigned.
      • Provide member service through face-to-face interactions on a daily basis.
      • This role requires becoming a Colorado state Notary Public to facilitate loan documentation and other member requests for notarization in accordance with Colorado state law.
      • Branch leadership is required to become trained and certified to perform Medallion Signature Guarantees on behalf of Canvas Credit Union which guarantees a signature on a member’s request to transfer securities.

      Job Qualifications

      Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

      • Strong people management skills; able to build and foster teamwork; coach, train and develop Canvas Family members.
      • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain programs, loan terms, features, policies and benefits to customers and business partners.
      • Demonstrated track record of success in sales and customer service.
      • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Canvas financial products and services.
      • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
      • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
      • Must be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
      • Ability to maintain confidences.
      • Multi-lingual capabilities to include Spanish are a plus.
      • Current Canvas employees must be meeting performance expectations and consistently demonstrating HEART behaviors to be considered.

      Education or Formal Training: Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or equivalent work experience.

      Experience: One to four years financial or sales management experience.

      The starting pay range for this position is $58,906.49-$73,644.99/annual, and final pay rate will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity factors.

      NMLS

      This role at Canvas requires Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008. This means we conduct background checks to ensure NMLS registration and Canvas requirements are met. Not meeting or staying current may result in removal from role.

      Canvas also conducts pre-employment background reviews (components include criminal, employment, address, social security number, motor vehicle record, sex offender, and global sanctions).

      Working Environment/Physical Activities

      Credit union branch office environment. Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday thru Saturday. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, or standing, as necessary.
