      The New York Jobs CEO Council is an action-oriented coalition led by the Chief Executive Officers of some of the largest employers in New York, including JP Morgan Chase. The Jobs Council fosters collaboration between corporate, education, government, and nonprofit leaders to prepare New York area for the future of work and meet employer talent needs.

      The NY Jobs CEO Council is a non-profit organization whose goal is to provide access to high-potential jobs for 100,000 low-income New Yorkers, especially for Black, LatinX and Asian communities, including 25,000 from the City University of New York (CUNY).

      Our economy and the nature of work are fundamentally evolving. Many New Yorkers—especially in low-income and diverse communities—have either been left behind or did not have the opportunity to keep up in the first place.

      The future of New York City’s economy and workforce requires breaking down industry and educational silos and opening the door to local talent.

      Director of Finance

      An incredible opportunity has opened up for an entrepreneurial and strategic individual to join their team. The Director will serve as the primary financial advisor providing strategic oversight and partnership to organizational leadership to ensure financial management and operational efficiency.

      The Director of Finance will lead financial management for the organization and ensure the Jobs Council has the systems, policies, and technologies to achieve organizational goals and maintain financial health.

      The Director of Finance is a proven leader who believes in the Jobs Council mission and is committed to driving operational efficiency through sound financial management.       Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      Leadership and management:

      • Act as a thought-partner to the ED and leadership team across all areas of finance operations
      • Oversee the management and evaluation of internal processes and external service providers across finance and accounting
      • Oversee vendor and risk management best practices

      Finance & Compliance:

      • Lead all finance and accounting functions for the organization, including:
        • Annual budgeting process, P&L reporting, and financial statement preparation for all audiences (e.g., Board of Directors, Executives)
        • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics as well as management cost reports
        • Lead production of cash flow reports, annual budget, and forecasts as needed
        • Manage budgeting and proactive forecasting for financials. Establish protocols and best practices for budget and spend
        • Manage all financial accounts for the organization (bills.com, credit cards, etc)
      • Manage annual audit(s) and key forms (e.g., 990, 990T information)
      • Collaborate with third-party consultants to support Jobs Council’s legal, financial, real estate, insurance coverage, and registration filings
      • Manage bookkeeping, employee payroll, payment of invoices, and cashflow
      • Provide strategic guidance to the Executive Director to ensure compliance with the Audit Committee and Board leadership
      • Provide suggestions to the team to improve efficiency and operational excellence across the organization
      • Oversight of vendors and risk management processes across the organization

      Required qualifications, skills and capabilities:

      • 5-7+ years of finance and accounting experience, including audit, and analysis (including gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting financial information to management and external stakeholders)
      • Previous experience in coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
      • A track record of building efficiencies and implementing process improvements driven by outstanding attention to detail, strong organizational skills and a systems-mindset
      • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a larger team
      • Senior presence with the ability to present to a variety of executive audiences
      • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities
      • Excellent communication skills, tailored to a variety of audiences and formats
      • Proven ability to make complex and time-sensitive decisions in the best interests of the organization
      • Proficiency with accounting software and excellent Excel skills
      • Ability to work from our NYC office up to 2x a week in our current hybrid model

      Preferred qualifications:

      • Nonprofit finance and accounting experience is a plus
      • Experience managing a variety of vendors / contractors as needed
      • Ability to navigate a start-up environment, with a data-driven, results-oriented culture
      • Experience working with executive board to manage relationships with staff, fellows, and financial partners desired

      Salary for this role is $125,000 – $150,000 annually, commensurate upon experience. The New York Jobs CEO Council offers medical, dental and vision benefits and a generous 401k match.
