- Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensed to practice in the state of Iowa.
- Must be registered under both state and federal Controlled Substances Acts.
- Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner within a family practice clinic is preferred for caring for both acute and chronic health conditions.
- Obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, and provide therapeutic procedures (injections, wound care, suturing, immunizations, etc.).
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe medications as appropriate.
- Educate patients on care plans, home care, and preventative health; arrange referrals as needed.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and monitor patient outcomes.
- Incorporate quality improvement data and/or patient satisfaction data in clinic goals
- Provide excellent customer service and foster a respectful and professional environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Maintain fiscal accountability and achieve outcomes within available resources.
- Adapt to changing situations, work independently, and maintain accuracy in tasks.
- Protect confidential information and uphold JCHC’s mission, vision, values, and standards of behavior.
- Participate in committees and perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
JCHC is excited to announce the opening of our new Family Medicine Clinic in Ottumwa, which is scheduled to open early 2026. This Nurse Practitioner role will be part of our brand-new location, offering an opportunity to help establish and grow our services in the community.
Under the general guidance of the Administration and in accordance with the Iowa State Board of Nursing the nurse practitioner will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases and health conditions following the appropriate medical practice guidelines. Provides medical care to patients of varying types and acuity and is responsible for the continuous and comprehensive management of a broad range of health services. Utilizes the knowledge and skill acquired through specialized training, to promote health, prevent disease, and assess patient health care management. Patient care is to be delivered in collaboration with and/or under the supervision of the physician. Performs assigned procedures and duties within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
