      Hornblower is seeking a NYCHA Outreach Lead for our NYC Ferry operation in Brooklyn, NY.

      About You:

      This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower’s RESPECT Service System.

      About the Opportunity:

      The NYCHA Outreach Lead is dedicated to coordination and continuous outreach with various NYC Housing Authority residents, tenant associations, and key stakeholders. This crewmember supports the Vice President of Global Public Affairs and Manager of Public Affairs and works closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to identify, plan, track, and conduct high-impact community relations and public outreach activities with NYCHA residents, tenant associations, and affiliated organizations. This individual is passionate about community engagement, knowledgeable about public transportation and public housing, and able to quickly distill complex information. They are reliable, professional, and solutions-oriented.

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

      • Be a public ambassador and embody the values of NYC Ferry (“NYCF”) by representing the company in the communities we serve and throughout New York City.
      • Establish sustained relationships and outreach initiatives with the residents, tenant associations, and affiliated organizations of NYCHA complexes, especially those located within 1-mile of all NYCF landings.
      • Serve as the in-person NYCHA community lead for outreach, flyering, tabling, event participation, and presentations, etc.
      • Manage relationships with riders, community partners, community boards, tenant associations, and NYCHA residents to build the NYCF community identity and to identify opportunities for new partnerships, initiatives, or events that will create new NYCF commuters and/or inspire future NYCF mariners and crew.
      • Educate communities and key individuals about NYCF, the Ferry Discount Program, NYCF careers, Hornblower’s role in operating NYCF, and any relevant system updates.
      • Conduct in-person canvassing of local neighborhoods, including door-to-door small business outreach, canvassing of areas near current or future landings, and flyering at pedestrian plazas and events near NYCHA facilities.
      • Represent NYCF at in-person events with external partners.
      • Provide virtual and in-person presentations to relevant community organizations.
      • Proactively flag any potential issues related to NYCF that are raised by NYCHA tenants, tenant associations, and other organizations to assist in developing a productive response and/or solution
      • Analyze and report on partner initiatives, forecast for strategic changes and report on key metrics, including providing feedback to identify key community issues to be addressed.
      • In coordination with the Community Engagement Coordinator, maintain internal tracking of all NYCHA-related outreach activities, partnerships, and initiatives.
      • As directed, assist on community relations projects with external partners and internal teams.
      • As needed, assist in the setup and breakdown of any HNY Ferry materials at events.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Requirements & Qualifications:

      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred
      • Familiarity with NYCHA is highly preferred
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
      • Valid driver’s license preferred but not required
      • Ability to balance transparent communication while exercising essential discretion
      • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
      • Calm demeanor and respectful in nature to all employees and partners, at all levels
      • Strong critical and active observation and listening skills
