Job Description

- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining inventory control of all medical equipment and supplies across the plant.
- Supports occupational health programs to include, but not limited to hearing conservation, ergonomics, personal protective equipment (PPE), Bloodborne Pathogens, first aid, and behavioral observations.
- Develops training content and provides training to employees on health and safety programs.
- Evaluates physical condition of employee, takes vital signs.
- Treats injuries/illnesses, refer employees to offsite medical facilities, order supplies and file records. In collaboration with the HR Specialist and Safety Manager, assist with management of worker’s compensation claims, accommodations and return to work programs.
- Prepare forms to be submitted to WCB.
- Manage and coordinate site first aid program including instruction of standard first aid CPR-C & AED.
- Provide education and health resources to employees including, but not limited to mental health resources, support and awareness.
- Wellness Program, develop and manage company-wide wellness initiatives and activities.
- Coordinate and administer onsite vaccination clinics such as flu shot and covid-19 vaccinations.
- Support attendance management by working with employees, as needed, on any stage of the attendance management program with attendance improvement plans.
- Work closely with the site HR Business Partner as it relates to Covid-19 protocols and procedures.
- Employee contact-tracing and follow up to ensure employee safety and to ensure proper return-to-work practices are followed.
- Communicate with appropriate client groups providing notification of absences and expected return dates. Facilitates return to work from both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Assists in plant emergency response
- B.S. degree in Nursing (RN) or LPN diploma required
- 3+ years of related experience and/or training
- Spirometry testing, respiratory surveillance and occupational hearing conservationist preferred
- Certificates: Certified Occupational Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Nurse Specialist (COHNS) preferred. Certification in CPR and AED preferred.

We are seeking an accountable and collaborative leader to join us as an Occupational Health Lead in our Carberry, Manitoba Facility. As the successful candidate, you will develop, coordinate, implement, and manage a comprehensive employee health service program based on government guidelines, and corporate policies. You will provide preventative care and first aid as needed for the Carberry site. You will take day to day direction from the Site Safety Manager and work closely with the Human Resources Manager and other members of the Plant Leadership Team.
