- Work as part of the Community Mental Health OT service.
- Use technical, creative and psychosocial skills to deliver occupational therapy interventions that are linked to sports, health and fitness. This will be service user centred that will include groups and individual sessions to service users who experience mental health difficulties.
- Be focused on social inclusion and skills development and ensure activities used focus on these objectives.
- Work autonomously under the guidance of community Mental Health Occupational therapists to implement treatment for service users with mental health issues impacting upon function.
- Provide treatment in accordance with individualised care plans under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
- Support service users to build physical activity and community activities into their daily activities and routine, that are designed to support recovery and independence as directed by the occupational therapist.
- Report any safety or security concerns in order to maintain the safety of service users, staff and others.
- Take part in regular supervision and appraisal and attend and participate in mandatory courses and training as indicated.
- Participate in the process of multi disciplinary working by exchanging appropriate information with service users, staff, carers and others maintaining adherence to data protection guidance and confidentiality at all times.

Job summary
The post holder will work with the Occupational Therapists in the Bexley Community Mental Health teams to support service users' mental health and well-being, enabling them to reach their recovery goals.
This role will focus primarily on promoting and supporting service users to engage in community-based activities which are sports and health related.
Networking and engaging with community resources will be an essential part of developing a program of activities which service users can continue to access outside of mental health services.
The post holder will be involved in planning and running groups, assisting in discharge planning, and supporting community-based activities to facilitate social inclusion. All clinical work will be carried out under the supervision of an occupational therapist.

We are looking for someone with a keen interest in sport, health and well-being, who could contribute to the development a wide range of community-based activities to support service users mental health recovery.
You will need a passion for supporting inclusivity and developing strong links with community organisations, exploring creative ways of developing an interest and participation in activities which promote physical health.
You will ideally have additional experience and qualification in a sport or leisure-based activity, such as gym instructor or football coach.
You will be an integral part of the community mental health team, working under direction of Occupational Therapists, and will contribute to the assessment and treatment of individual service users using both individual and group-based interventions.
