      Team Overview

      The Financial Services Quantitative Analysis (FSQA) team is a specialist business unit within Oliver Wyman based in Raleigh, NC. We are a dynamic, fast-growing team of quantitative analytics specialists. We work closely with our colleagues across Oliver Wyman to cover a global footprint: Our clients are the leading financial institutions across the world.

      Clients hire us for our depth of insight and expertise; expertise that comes from a combination of specialized domain knowledge and strong data analytics capabilities. The current focus area for our Raleigh team is on solving quantitative problems for the Financial Services industry, but there are also opportunities to serve clients in other industries on topics like forecasting and optimization, such as for Supply Chain Management. Our analysis techniques include both classical statistics and modern machine learning methods.

      The Role and Responsibilities

      Our team in Raleigh, NC, is growing rapidly and we are looking for highly talented quantitative Team Leaders to continue the success and development of FSQA and help build the local team.

Experience in applying analytics to applications in the financial services industry, such as in credit risk, market risk, climate risk, forecasting and stress testing will be particularly relevant.

This is a client-facing, project-based analytics role, and some travel to client sites is to be expected as part of building client relationships and setting projects on a solid foundation, but most of our work can be conducted from Raleigh.

      • You will typically lead one project or workstream at a time in coordination with other Oliver Wyman teams and clients across the globe
      • Project work typically involves developing hypotheses; managing data collection, model creation and analyses; conducting primary and secondary research; creatively tackling information limitations; and surfacing insights, overseeing the work of Analysts
      • Using Partners and the internal network effectively to provide technical and senior-level steer to projects
      • Working in a team together with clients to complete project deliverables to high standard
      • Maintaining energy and positive work life quality of the team
      • Coaching, guiding and managing Oliver Wyman and client team members to develop their skills

      Your Attributes and Experience

      Clients hire Oliver Wyman for specialized expertise and the impact we deliver. The ideal candidate will have most of the following:

      • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline. Ideally Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering
      • Minimum 5 years work experience in a data analytics role with management and leadership experience, ideally related to the Financial Services industry
      • Strong quantitative analysis skills
      • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively present results, potential issues and implications
      • Work effectively and collaboratively in a team while coaching and guiding junior team members and contributing to their development
      • Be independent and work under limited supervision respecting defined timelines
      • Ability to manage time and work processes efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
      • Be able to find innovative, practical and flexible solutions to business issues
      • Excellent command of English language (verbal and written)
      • Ability to maintain and respect confidentiality
      • Willingness to travel occasionally

      The ideal candidate will also have some of the following skills and qualifications:

      • Experience in developing solutions for quantitative analyses using advanced analytics and data manipulation software in Python, SAS, R, SQL or PySpark
      • Experience financial services analytics: e.g., credit risk (e.g. Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, Exposure at Default), climate risk (physical or transition risk), stress testing, A-IRB, market risk, derivatives valuation, AML analytics, model validation

      The applicable base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $220,000 annually.

      The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

      In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
