      Job Description

      SUMMARY
      The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of the DON Corporate Distribution Center in Woodridge, IL. Responsible for managing overall operations, including the labor, productivity, safety, and quality of the operation. This position will be required to work after hours as needed and remain on call and available for emergencies, outages, and/or required events which halt or cause a delay in daily operations.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES

      • Plan, direct and control a wide variety of operational assignments through management, clerical, and warehouse staff.
      • Develop and implement the annual budget.
      • Follow broadly based directives and operate independently in accomplishing organizational goals.
      • Communicate with management on operational issues, utilization of schedules, and statistical analysis on a daily basis.
      • Use sound judgment in analyzing issues, and establishing innovative solutions.
      • Recognize the importance and providing excellent customer service to both external and internal customers and develop methods that will improve customer satisfaction.
      • Systematically handle daily work challenges and adjusts effectively to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change.
      • Prepare reports for Distribution Center Management regarding department performance standards.
      • Establish and communicate performance metrics, standards, and objectives.
      Supervisory Duties:
      • Select, train, counsel, and develop direct reports.
      • Collaborates with Human Resources to recruit, develop, and train staff.
      • Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, and housekeeping regulations.
      • Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, dismissals, and terminations.
      • Set challenging and productive goals for the team and hold them accountable.
      • Coach and counsel direct reports on performance issues and takes corrective action if needed.
      • Conduct periodic meetings with direct reports to keep them informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in the department and Company.
      • Manage time and attendance of direct reports according to policies and procedures.
      • Plan, schedule, and assign workload as well as monitor work productivity and recommend/ implement changes as needed.
      • Complete performance appraisals within assigned timeframes.
      • Cross-train direct reports to maximize productivity and provide coverage of all functions. Administer all policies and procedures accordingly as set forth by DON.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      External Qualifications

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Required
      : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, extensive warehouse management systems experience. 5+ years progressively responsible experience in managing warehouse operations. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel and Word). Proven leadership abilities to effectively develop, direct, and motivate. Strong analytical, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to problem-solve, multitask and prioritize work. Excellent communication, time management skills. Can work independently or collaboratively to accomplish objectives and is able to interact effectively with all levels of management.

      Preferred: SAP experience. WMS Red Prairie Production System experience
