- Use your management experience to run operational activities for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music
- HEO 10 Base Salary $150,628 + 17% superannuation
- lead operational and administrative functions for the work area
- manage communication and stakeholder engagement
- provide effective leadership and guidance to support staff
- oversee risk and workplace health and safety
- manage operational budgets and prepare reports as required for management groups and governance committees
- work flexibly outside normal business hours to support the 1200+ public events each year.
- excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes and effectively deliver results
- ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven negotiation and conflict resolution abilities including demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters
- professional experience managing a complex public environment including venue operations, ticket sales and Front of House duties
- experience managing a diverse group of key stakeholders on large and complex projects and the ability to foster productive relationships with industry providers and key users
- financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure for projects
- demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff and resolving a diverse range of complex HR issues
- proven management experience at a senior level together with flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and environments and when necessary, navigating through ambiguity.
About the opportunity
The Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) is seeking an Operations Manager to provide expert advice and guidance to implement strategy , policy and related business plans into operational activity. With five direct reports, the role will manage the utilisation of resources across a wide range of teaching and research activity for both the tertiary and secondary school programs.
The position holder will also ensure the maintenance of the building as a music education and performance facility utilising effective operational and administrative systems to meet these requirements in alignment with University policies, practices and relevant legislative and regulatory controls to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and visitors.
SCM is one of the oldest and most prestigious Music Schools in Australia and occupies a distinctive place within Sydney’s arts and education community. The Conservatorium is renowned for its exceptional commitment to music, innovation and partnership programs with Australia’s major arts organisations.
SCM is located in a landmark position at the heart of Sydney’s cultural precinct, close to the Sydney Opera House and surrounded by the Royal Botanic Gardens. Since 2001, following major renovation to create a facility of outstanding acoustic and architectural quality, the Conservatorium is regarded as one of the finest in the world with six performance venues and over 130 teaching and practice studios.
