Job Description

- Abide by, participate in, and enforce all safety and environmental policies.
- Encourage safety awareness and support employee involvement in resolution of safety concerns.

- Effectively manage to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Directly involved with all union issues and support department heads with decisions regarding union matters. This involves understanding and managing the Steelworkers 816 CBA
- Responsible for the selection, training, leadership, development, discipline and termination of employees.
- Empower employees to take action whenever appropriate.
- Follow and promote the Lafarge HR business cycle (O & HR Review, Annual performance review, Annual Objective setting, Individual Development Plans, Career & Succession Plan.)
- Participate in the building of career and succession plans for the key employees and positions.
- Drive Labour Relation improvements both financially and in terms of employee engagement with participation in labour negotiations.
- Promotes a culture of performance. Effectively develops goals and objectives to implement actions, track performance and continuously look for opportunities for improvement.

- Manage departments to schedule around barge loading
- Continually seeking to optimize performance and efficiency of process from mine design lay-out to barge-load
- Manage all the department heads and maintain effective lines of inter-departmental communication. This includes site labour scheduling the week prior
- Oversee and manage projects to completion – CAPEX/OPEX, weekly and daily plans
- Ensure quality of materials meets the contract requirements for all customer contracts. Includes material gradation limits and chemistry specifications
- Direct the maintenance of all property and equipment. Maintain a high quality image and reputation in the marketplace.
- Review and approve parts in approval limit in a timely fashion when required
- Ensure maximum productive operations at minimum cost. Communicate regularly with employees over continued improvements.
- Be innovative in using new technologies and new product development. Maximize use of all assets. Actively participate in customer complaint resolution.
- Perform environmental and safety audit reviews.
- Monitor invoicing and accounts receivables. Review financial statements for accuracy.
- Establish raw material inventory to maximum / minimum levels. Company signing officer.

- Work alongside of the Production Manager

- University degree preferred in construction management, engineering, or business
- 10+ years of related experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
- 5+ years of experience in supervisory or management capacity
- Experience with Labour Relations and management of collective agreement
- Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
- Must be flexible and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines
- Possess a general knowledge of construction and A&C products and a solid understanding of the market, competition and business opportunities
- Excellent leadership skills - must be able to motivate others and provide complete, direct and actionable feedback
- Possess a commitment to and willingness to devote great effort and time in order to reach goals
- Ability to make decision is a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete data and under tight deadlines and pressure
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutionsProficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
