What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle and PostgreSQL database software
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and indexes
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including backups, restores, and recovery procedures
- Manage database security, including user access, roles, and permissions
- Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas and assist with query optimization
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
- Proven expertise in Oracle database administration, including RAC, Data Guard, and performance tuning
- Demonstrable experience with PostgreSQL administration, including replication and performance tuning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication abilities
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
- Experience with database backup and recovery strategies and tools (e.g., RMAN for Oracle, pg_dump/pg_restore for Postgres)
- Solid understanding of SQL, PL/SQL, and database scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
