      Seeking a Child Watch Staff for AM shifts Mondays through Friday from 9 am to 11:30 am and PM shifts Monday through Thursday 4-7:30pm; and seasonally Saturday shifts from 8-11 am. Hours are subject to change Your schedule will be random, working around current staff availability. Child Watch Staff minimum requirement 18 years of age or older. Experience working with kids and a fun, energetic, team player attitude, who is creative and loves children. Hourly pay is minimum wage.

      POSITION SUMMARY:
      Provides direction for the program and classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
      2. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
      3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
      4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
      5. Conducts parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
      6. Maintains program site and equipment.
      7. Maintains required program records.
      8. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
      9. To promote the physical, intellectual, social, cultural and emotional well-being of the children.
      10. Work with the staff team to plan and implement activities.
      11. Provide direct leadership to the assigned group(s) and maintain constant visual contact with all assigned children.
      12. Participate in daily activities and aid the children in completing tasks, including land and water-based activities. Assist in assessing child abilities and developmental stages.
      13. Build enthusiasm for activities and programs.
      14. Complete required documentation regarding attendance, health and wellness, sign-in and sign-out, and other items as assigned. Notify parents if children are not in attendance.
      15. Keep the program areas neat and organized. Follow all safety procedures.
      16. Follow all regulating agency and YMCA child care policies, regulations and procedures.
      17. Maintain friendly, positive and professional relationships with children, parents, school & day care partners and other YMCA staff. Project a positive image of the YMCA and the Day Care program.
      18. Follow work site requirements regarding punctuality, appropriate dress, staff meeting attendance, etc.
      19. Carry out tasks as assigned by the Site or Program Director.
      20. Assist in program and YMCA recruitment and special events.
      21. Work YMCA Camp Days and alternate program locations as scheduled.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law. School Age Child Care Clearance per NYS regulations as required.
      2. At least 18 years of age to work in ChildWatch.
      3. High School diploma or GED preferred. Additional educational requirements may be necessary per the appropriate regulating agency.
      4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications are required within 60 days of hire date.
      5. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
      6. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
      7. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS

      Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
      Vision, hearing, speech and movement abilities in order to provide safe supervision of children at all times.
