- Serves as team leader on inspections.
- Conducts highly complex and technical inspections of industrialsafety operations in the workplace.
- Operates advanced and highly technical testing equipment duringinspections.
- Works cases with heavy legal presence, multi-employer layers, and advanced topics.
- Responds first to conduct fatality/catastrophe investigations.
- Writes highly detailed reports of workplace inspections and investigations and identifies safetyhazards.
- Compiles appropriate information and documentation from workplace inspections and utilizes this datato write complex reports.
- Recommends issuance of citations and penalties.
- Completes training required to maintain certification.
- Researches technical publications on the latest occupational safety standards and technical developments and keeps current with policies.
- May develop and conduct specialized seminars.
- Provides support to OSH Safety Compliance Officers during inspections.
- Assists in training new employees on equipment, inspection process, policies, and procedures.
- Testifies as a witness in quasi-judicial hearings, including Kentucky OSH administrative hearings onbehalf of the Education and Labor Cabinet Secretary and hearings by the Kentucky Safety and Health ReviewCommission.
- May act as the OSH Compliance Safety Supervisor in their absence.
- Reviews investigation reports in absence of management and conducts informal conferences with employers.

The Division of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Compliance seeks an OSH Certified Safety Specialist II inthe OSH Compliance Safety Branch. This position will serve as a team leader in the field of industrial safety.This position will conduct the most complex and technical fatalities, catastrophes, and complaints of theindustrial safety operations in the workplace.
The position will require overnight travel to Frankfort for several weeks during initial training. This position is a remote work location and will be based on the selected candidate's home address.

The Education and Labor Cabinet (ELC) participates in E-Verify. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have four years of professional experience in the occupational safety and health field.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be certified as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Incumbent must have ability to make oral presentations to groups. Frequent travel will be required to conduct inspections. When conducting workplace inspections or consultations, employees in this class are exposed to the same working conditions as those employed at the workplace. May be exposed to potential hazards which may require the following of safety precautions.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
