- Coordinate line trials of new materials/vendors to assure they meet manufacturing, quality, regulatory and customer expectations.
- Work with MRP Analysts to implement packaging improvement ideas
- Develop and organize proper documentation for specification system for packaging
- Audit existing packaging materials for quality, conformance, quantities, etc.
- Develop ideas for savings, innovation, and quality improvements that are relevant to the product(s) and business.
- Assists in various project related to packaging (graphics, etc.)
- Maintain compliance with customers related to packaging.
- Maintaining packaging specifications and graphics ensuring accessibility and control of packaging assets.
- Visit vendor locations, as needed, to examine ongoing packaging projects to ensure conformance to project requirements.
- Provide technical support to Marketing, Quality Assurance, Materials, and Production.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience working with plant operations and packaging supply chain form concept to production for multiple products.
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Packaging Engineering or related desired.
- Strong working knowledge of a wide variety of packaging materials, automated packaging equipment, and processing equipment.
- Proficiency in researching and developing state of the art packages through experimental design, package testing methodology, and through previous commercialization experience.
- Experience in food or other CPG preferred with familiarity with high-speed food manufacturing processes is desirable.
- Experience with maintaining, updating internal as well as external customer packaging databases
- Strong communication skills in order to professionally represent the company with customers and suppliers.

REMOTE POSITION, LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY DUE TO REQUIREMENT TO COME INTO THE FACILITY FROM TIME TO TIME.
As a Packaging Engineer you would be responsible for various packaging projects from initiation to production. Projects will consist of modifications of packaging for existing products as well as the packaging for new products. This includes identification, specification development, line trials, sample procurement, sizing trials, line troubleshooting, product documentation, cost-reduced packaging, etc.
This position will require the employee to work overtime as needed. Overtime is scheduled based upon individual job responsibilities and the needs of the department.

The Jel Sert Company is committed to pay transparency and will provide further compensation information during the interview process. The minimum compensation for the Packaging Engineer is $77,331 annually. Compensation is determined by a candidate’s experience, education, skills, training, and the internal equity within our organization. Actual compensation to be paid will be determined upon an offer. In addition to a competitive compensation package, regular full-time corporate employees of Jel Sert are eligible for our extensive benefits programs that can be reviewed here.
