      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our team of Band 7 leaders with the development of a Level 2 High Dependency Unit (HDU). This role offers a chance to lead and shape the future of paediatric care within the Trust.

      The post-holder will be responsible for the overall clinical and operational management of the Paediatric Inpatient Department and the Paediatric Assessment Unit, ensuring seamless service delivery 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This includes overseeing patient flow, staff allocation, and maintaining high standards of care.

      Strong clinical leadership is essential in this role, as you will empower and support the multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, family-centred care. You will ensure compliance with local and Trust-wide quality standards and promote continuous improvement in clinical practice.

      The successful candidate will act as a role model, fostering a positive working environment that encourages professional development, innovation, and collaborative working to achieve the best outcomes for children and their families.

      Main duties of the job

      As a key member of our well-established nursing team, you will be expected to apply your expertise and skills to enhance patient care and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care that meets NHS standards and promotes positive outcomes for children in hospital.

      Your role will involve overseeing and guiding nursing staff, fostering a collaborative environment where all team members can develop their skills and work cohesively. You will use your broad knowledge of pediatric nursing to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care tailored to the unique needs of children and their families.

      Effective communication is essential; you will liaise with colleagues across various disciplines and levels to coordinate care, share information, and resolve challenges promptly. You will also be responsible for promoting a culture of safety, adhering to clinical governance, safeguarding policies, and best practice guidelines.

      By championing professional development and maintaining high standards, you will play a vital role in driving our service forward and ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families.
