What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide expert-level paralegal work and supervision of professional staff in litigation cases
- Support Assistant Attorneys General in juvenile litigation for the Department of Child, Youth and Families
- Manage case documents, files, exhibits, and ensure timely service of legal documents
- Assist in the preparation of legal pleadings and correspondence, ensuring compliance with court rules
- Supervise assigned professional staff in the Vancouver Office, with a minimum of two in-person days per week
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Open to current permanent employees of the Washington State Office of the Attorney General only
- Four years of experience through paralegal certification or a two-year paralegal degree, or three years' experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service
- Experience preparing legal pleadings and managing case documents
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge of Washington State civil litigation practices and court rules
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience leading, mentoring, or training others in a legal setting
- Familiarity with discovery production and assisting at hearings and trials
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and help others during stressful events
- Experience with dual language skills, which may qualify for a stipend
- Proven track record of working effectively in a team-oriented environment
