      Reporting to a Paralegal Manager, the Paralegal II provides support for litigation matters of moderate complexity including client communication, discovery, pleading preparation and legal research on litigation matters with limited guidance and direction from aligned attorneys and people leader.

      Please be advised that Paralegals are expected to align their working hours with PST and MST time zones to support their respective staff legal office teams.

      Responsibilities

      • Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research using advanced techniques and effectively manage case files and deadlines, handling large volumes of data to support attorneys in building strong legal arguments.
      • Technology Integration: Efficiently manage legal documents, deadlines, and electronically stored information during litigation using case management and e-discovery tools, while proactively leveraging new and existing technologies to optimize workflow, streamline processes, and generate data-driven insights for improved outcomes.
      • Strategy Development and Analysis: Analyze case information and assist in developing legal strategies, identifying legal precedents, and applying legal principles to formulate recommendations for attorneys and clients.
      • Project Management: Manage moderately complex legal projects, including planning, organizing tasks, allocating resources, and monitoring progress to ensure that objectives are met and potential risks are proactively addressed.
      • Team Development and Collaboration: Actively engage with clients, stakeholders, and attorneys, fostering collaboration and mentoring team members, while conveying information clearly to motivate the team and achieve successful outcomes.
      • Legal Knowledge Application: Apply a strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and court rulings to mitigate operational risks and ensure compliance, while effectively managing legal documents and drafting complex legal materials.
      • Client Relationship Development: Develop a comprehensive understanding of clients' concerns and priorities, maintaining open lines of communication, providing timely updates, and establishing trust to enhance client relationships.
      • Effective Communication: Assertively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders, influencing outcomes and maximizing organizational performance while adapting communication styles to suit diverse audiences.

      Qualifications

      • Requires paralegal certificate or 4 years of non-clerical litigation experience under the direction of an attorney.
      • Bachelor's degree preferred.
      • Ability to perform thorough legal research using advanced techniques, independently draft legal documents including motions and assist with analysis on complex matters.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, policyholders, and judges.
      • Requires strong organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
      • Ability to exercise independent judgment and to effectively prioritize work.
      • Must display effective use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and corporate and legal databases.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
