- Research and write 6-8 daily lifestyle and entertainment stories that are accurate, engaging, and culturally relevant
- Pitch original ideas and respond to assignments across a variety of beats - including pop culture, wellness, home, relationships, internet trends, and more
- Produce clean, compelling copy that aligns with editorial best practices and journalistic standards
- Contribute to a collaborative, fast-moving editorial workflow with clarity and flexibility
- Stay attuned to timely cultural moments, viral trends, and evergreen angles with long-tail potential
- Other duties as assigned by management

- Strong editorial judgment and a solid grounding in responsible journalistic practices
- Proven ability to write clean, compelling, well-researched copy
- A creative and curious mindset, with genuine enthusiasm for lifestyle and entertainment content
- Comfort working across beats and formats - from listicles to service explainers to pop culture breakdowns
- Prior experience writing in a newsroom or digital media environment is preferred
- Deep knowledge of and passion for pop culture, with an instinct for what stories will resonate.
- Proven ability to write clean, engaging, fast-turnaround copy.
- Strong news judgment and ability to spot viral angles and timely stories.
- Comfort working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Familiarity with SEO, social media platforms, CMS tools, and performance tracking tools (like Google Analytics, Chartbeat).
- A roster of editorial contacts and sourcing skills is a plus.
- Track record for innovation, learning and using new skills and technology, especially AI.
- Ability to prioritize and to work under and meet short- and long-deadlines in a fast-paced, data-driven work environment and to accurately fact-check information
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and build relationships and develop sources with a diverse array of people.
- Ability to work well, be professional and courteous with a variety of editors, staff at all levels, and the public.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, Digital editing, web search, databases)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends
- Must be able to work remotely while contributing to a team environment
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university; preferably in Journalism, or the equivalent education, experience, skills and knowledge needed to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
- Two to Four years of digital writing/reporting experience, ideally in entertainment, and/or lifestyle media.
This position requires a versatile and culturally curious writer to join a centralized editorial team that produces high-quality, brand-agnostic content across a wide range of lifestyle and entertainment topics. From emerging trends to evergreen explainers, this team serves as a creative engine delivering informative, engaging articles that resonate across multiple platforms and audiences.
The anticipated base pay for this position is between $35 - $40 an hour. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, department equity and relevant education.
