What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Schedule surgeries and maintain current information regarding surgery schedules for service site providers
- Triage and document telephone calls from patients, addressing medication refills, complaints, and urgent health care concerns
- Schedule new patient appointments and obtain prior medical records as needed
- Provide high-quality customer service to both external and internal customers, ensuring effective communication and complaint processing
- Offer administrative support for assigned surgeons, including managing calendars and coordinating travel
What is Required (Qualifications):
- One year of experience in a medical office setting with direct patient contact or one and a half years in a high-volume public contact position with six months in a medical setting
- Thorough knowledge of PAS policies and procedures
- Demonstrated advanced PAS user skills and extensive knowledge of integrated care
- Basic computer skills, including word processing and online scheduling
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in an orthopedic or surgery department
- Knowledge of diagnostic authorizations and medical terminology
- Minimum of six months experience with a high-volume, multi-line phone system
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle confrontational customer interactions effectively
