- DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for managing all aspects of hospital/physician patient accounts for Berkshire Health Systems which includes daily work processes, changes in regulations, reimbursement and billing, along with management and human resource duties of staff. Works autonomously with staff to address and direct staff issues as needed. When necessary seeks input from department Director. • Analyze the accounts receivable on a regular basis to maintain outstanding days at a controlled level, making recommendations for improvement as necessary. Maintain appropriate production levels to insure that billing and account follow-up is done on a continuous and timely basis. Maintain written and verbal communications with the hospital billing staff and management as well as other Berkshire Health Systems departments. Update policies and procedures that affect the billing cycle. Hire and orient all new staff in the hospital billing area and provide ongoing education for existing staff

- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
- Experience:
- Experience – Three (3) years in a hospital patient accounting environment as a Supervisor, Training Coordinator. Extensive experience with Meditech, Allscripts, PayerPath, SSI, Rycan, FISS, Microsoft Excel (use of spreadsheets) and Microsoft Word. Working knowledge of third party billing.

- Education and Training:
- Associate’s Degree in a Business discipline, 4 years experience in a billing office environment or demonstrated experience as a Training Coordinator or Supervisor in a business office setting.

- Other Requirements:
- Must be organized, analytical and possess proven leadership skills.
- Must possess the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and rationally and work under deadline pressures.
- Must be willing to accept additional responsibilities/duties as position requires.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with a lot of autonomy, possessing skills in problem solving and decision making.
- Ability to troubleshoot/maintain proper operation of business equipment preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal relationship skills are required.
