- Manages the Patient Advocate team in coordinating with patients on financial responsibility and assisting the team with navigating grants, copay assistance, free drug, and other financial assistance resources.
- Trains staff and provides backup in absences and in complex situations.
- Evaluate performance and provide counseling, cross-training, and coaching to team members.
- Maintains knowledge of the various insurance carrier medical policies, keeps up to date on changes imposed by insurance carriers, and communicates pertinent information to leadership, clinic, pharmacy, and billing staff.
- Oversees communication among department members, referring physicians, and patients to ensure it is timely, professional, and consistent.
- Collaborate with billing office on outstanding patient balances including assisting with the claim appeal process, collection efforts, and/or setting up payment plans.
- Monitors results to evaluate compliance with quality and productivity indicators and identifies opportunities for improving results.
- Maintains relationships with pharmaceutical representatives to stay up to date on drug indication changes and patient assistance program changes.
- Serves as primary contact with financial aid resource software provider including communicating problems with software platforms and providing feedback to staff on enhancements or changes in platform design.

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS), New England’s largest private oncology practice is seeking a Patient Advocate Manager., This role will lead the day-to-day operations of the Patient Financial Advocate Team across all NECS locations in Maine and Sea Coast New Hampshire. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of patient advocate experience, extensive knowledge of insurance and experience working with grants, co-pay assistance programs, and pharmaceutical drug programs. A minimum of 2 years experience in direct staff supervision including training, coaching, performance evaluations, and mentorship. As the subject matter point of contact for the practice, the candidate will have experience with multi-department collaboration and communication.
This position is a hybrid position with the successful candidate having the ability to work on-site at any of our locations and the ability to work remotely from home is required.
