      JOB SUMMARY:

      The Payroll & Benefits Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance with both U.S. and Canadian payroll legislation. This position supports a workforce of over 6,000 employees globally and reports directly to the Director of Payroll & Benefits. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong knowledge of cross-border payroll compliance, superior attention to detail, and effective resolution of payroll and benefits inquiries.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources preferred.
      • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or related certifications considered a plus.
      • A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration for the U.S.
      • Experience with various payroll platforms such as ADP, Ceridian, and UKG; proficiency in Workday is highly preferred.
      • Canadian payroll experience with familiarity in Canadian payroll platforms and reporting tools is considered a plus.
      • A strong understanding of U.S. payroll laws and tax compliance; working knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial employment is also a plus.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for reporting and audits.
      • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
      • Strong problem-solving and communication skills to handle payroll inquiries and escalations.
      • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee data and payroll information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.


      RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Payroll Management:
      • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
      • Maintain payroll records, including employee timekeeping data, salary information, and deductions.
      • Lead resolution of payroll inquiries, discrepancies, and escalations across Canada and the U.S.
      • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as needed.
      • Stay updated on payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

      Benefits Administration:
      • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, disability, life insurance, and other voluntary benefits.
      • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims.
      • Coordinate with benefits providers and ensure accurate and timely submission of enrollment and claims data.
      • Manage the annual open enrollment process and ensure all employee benefits information is current.


      Compliance and Reporting:
      • Ensure ongoing compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as Canadian federal and provincial employment standards.
      • Prepare and file payroll-related tax documents, including T4s, ROEs, and year-end summaries.
      • Conduct regular audits of payroll, benefits, and related records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

      HR Support:
      • Collaborate with the HR team on various projects and initiatives.
      • Provide support during internal and external audits.
      • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring proper setup and termination of payroll and benefits.


      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
      • This position requires the ability to remain stationary at a computer desk for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.


      Compensation range is $65,000-$75,000 based on qualifications and experience. Full-time employees at CircusTrix enjoy a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage along with a 401k plan with company matching. Eligibility for 401k is based on age and tenure requirements.
