      Description

      Position Purpose

      We are currently hiring for PBM Business Strategy Manager to join BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.


      This highly matrixed role is responsible for the oversight and success of pharmacy programs and offerings, including Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) delegated programs.

      The focus of this position will be on creating and maintaining detailed RFP responses, continuous improvement, process optimization, accuracy, and identification of all co-dependencies and risks, and a data-driven approach to quality, ensuring ongoing compliance with programs and initiatives are required.

      The ideal candidate will direct and oversee pharmacy communications, programs, strategies, web, and in-house monitoring processes.

      In addition, there will be an oversight that includes but is not limited to the RFP database, specialty medical benefits management program, clinical programs, and evolution, and numerous other PBM delegated pharmacy programs from sales proposals to group implementations to outcomes monitoring and lead evaluation of new program opportunities related to the pharmacy benefit, as well as the strategy to drive sales performance through internal process and marketing initiatives.

      Logistics

      This position is full time (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday that will be on-site for candidates that live within 30 miles of Columbia SC, reporting to 4101 Percival Rd. Columbia SC. For qualified candidates outside of the Columbia area, this will be a Work at Home opportunity with in the United States.

      What You Will Do:

      • Leads the development of strategic and tactical plans to improve the sales performance for various pharmacy benefits and programs.
      • Provides leadership for benefit and program implementation and ongoing monitoring.
      • Ensures that performance is continuously evaluated, and any modifications are implemented in a timely manner.
      • Collaborates with internal colleagues in all aspects of this work.
      • Directs and oversees all aspects of pharmacy communications, including vendor performance for delegated functions.
      • Works across health plan departments to ensure communications are aligned with strategies and requirements.
      • Ensures compliance with State, Federal, and Blue Association regulations and rules. Establishes reliable oversight and validation processes.
      • Mentor and coach staff and colleagues to ensure implementation of business strategies that support continued growth of pharmacy membership.
      • Responsible for departmental sales and marketing training and development, addressing performance issues, resource planning and strategic objectives.
      • Promotes professional growth.
      • Provides guidance and leadership in staff and resource management, team building and training to ensure organizational effectiveness and sales success.
      • Participates in development, analyses, and preparation of pharmacy requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for information (RFI) responses.
      • Supports and analyzes RPF requirements and activities of the proposal productions staff.
      • Identifies and qualifies new business opportunities and programs for winning new and retaining existing business.
      • Monitors the market to recognize trends and competitor strategies/outlook.
      • Researches and analyzes the value of products and services and makes adjustments to maintain alignment with market.
      • Oversees the timely development and distribution of performance reports required to track and trend sales progress and outcomes for programs and strategic pharmacy initiatives.

      To Qualify for This Position, You Will Need:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in job related field, OR four years job related experience, OR Associate degree and two years’ job-related experience.
      • 8 years job-related experience within the insurance OR health care environment.
      • Three years Sales and/or Marketing experience.
      • Three years of management experience OR three years of equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above.
      • All above experiences can be concurrent.
      • Experience managing complex projects and implementations.
      • Strong knowledge of marketing and/or sales principles, techniques, and the marketplace.
      • Strong vendor liaison/lead experience. Demonstrated business strategy and sales planning skills.
      • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
      • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions.
      • Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others.
      • Ability to direct, motivate, and assess performance of others.
      • Microsoft Office.

      What We Prefer:

      • Master’s Degree in related field.
      • Customer Relationship Management training.
      • 8 years’ work experience with Pharmacy Benefit Manager or in Pharmacy Program Management.
