      P.B.S.I. Instructional Assistant

      The position of a P.B.S.I. (Positive Behavior Support Initiative) Instructional Assistant will be available at East Central ISD for the 2024-2025 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is until the position is filled.

      PRIMARY PURPOSE: Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the school administration.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
      1. Check on students who struggle with behavior in the classroom.
      2. Assist as the first responder to students who struggle with behavior on campus.
      3. Provide social skills to students on appropriate behavior.
      4. Enter office referral data into the system, PEIMS data.
      5. Assume responsibility of students assigned to the in-school suspension program.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
      Education/Certification:
      High school diploma or GED
      Must have one of the following:
      • 48 college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or related area
      • Treasuring our Paraprofessional certificate
      Educational Aide Certificate
      Special Knowledge/Skills:
      Ability to communicate effectively
      Perform duties with a minimum of supervision

      EQUIPMENT USED: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

      WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, stooping, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. May be required to lift and position student’s w/physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards. Work inside; may work outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise.

      PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: 187 days-basis
      SALARY: Pay Grade 202
