      Overview

      Do you have lived experience receiving mental health or behavioral health services or with cross system involvement as a youth (Juvenile Justice; Mental and/or Behavioral Health treatment; Special Education; Substance Use Disorder Treatment), and are ready to use your experience to positively impact youth and families? At Seneca, we seek a compassionate and thoughtful professional to work directly helping youth and families reach their goals, as a Peer Specialist for our Wraparound Program.

      As a Peer Specialist you will be responsible for engaging with youth, young adults, and/or families in a community, home, or school setting. Your primary role will be to provide hope, one-on-one support, and mentorship to participants by sharing the experience with recovery/resilience and expertise in navigating systems and programs. As a Peer Specialist, you will have an opportunity to utilize your experiences navigating the past mental health services you received to positively impact youth and families in our community.

      ABOUT PROGRAM

      Seneca offers "Wraparound" services to children and youth susceptible of placement, and to their families. The Wraparound programs are strengths-based, family-driven, flexible, and creative, with the goal of helping the family develop the skills and supports to prevent or reduce the possibility of out-of-home placement of their child. A family-based team addresses the needs of the entire family, not just the child of focus. This family-based team consists of family members, Seneca's Therapists, Support Counselors, Family Partners, Facilitators and other community members who have an important role in the family.

      Responsibilities

      • Engage youth in the wraparound process by providing non-judgmental, unconditional support to children and families participating in the WISe Program
      • Meet with youth on a regular basis to provide support in addressing needs and goals
      • Act as a bridge between the youth and family and system representatives on the team, ensure youth voice is heard
      • Assist in the development of the individualized Cross System Care Plan (CSCP)
      • Utilize the Child and Adolescents Needs and Strengths Assessment to inform client and family strengths and areas for support
      • Work in coordination with primary caregiver, Seneca staff, and other supports identified by the client participate in all functions of the Child and Family Team, including planning meetings, assisting in designing treatment plans, assist in writing quarterly reports, and other casework duties as needed
      • Identify relevant community resources and linking participants/families to those resources
      • Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork in a timely manner

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • Lived experience receiving mental or behavioral health treatment; OR lived experience with cross system involvement (Juvenile Justice; Mental and/or Behavioral Health treatment; Special Education; Substance Use Disorder Treatment) Required
      • Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evenings hours as needed
      • Must be at least 21 years of age
      • Own vehicle, California driver’s license and auto insurance
      • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
      • Must show proof of Covid-19 vaccination

      Preferred:

      • Associate or Bachelor’s degree
      • Bilingual in Spanish
      • Excellent critical-thinking and organizational skills

      Schedule

      • Full-time; 40 hours a week
      • Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

      • Starting at $22.66 - $25.16 per hour. Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications
