      Job summary

      We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team; an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Royal College of Surgeons of England approved Peri-CCT Fellowship in Reconstructive, Functional and Robotic Urology, the only one of its kind in the UK. This post is based at the Freeman Hospital. This post is available from October 2025 for 12 months.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will undertake clinical duties within the Department of Urology. The individual will work closely with consultant trainers in Reconstructive and Functional Urology (Prof C Harding, Miss V Lavin, Mr J Barclay and Mr A Nambiar) and take part in the middle grade emergency on-call shift rota. The timetable will conform to the Specialist Advisory Committee Modular curriculum in Female, Reconstructive and Neuro-urology. We are the leading centre for robotic urological reconstruction in the UK and candidates interested in this subspecialty will also have the opportunity to improve and hone their skills. There will also be opportunity to undertake some training in the Urogynaecology department. The post holder will be expected to undertake clinical research with the aim of presenting and publishing their work. There is also ample opportunity to take part in teaching and audits and develop a full portfolio in preparation for Consultant job application.

      Essential

      • Primary Medical Qualification
      • Full MRCS
      • Full GMC registration or eligibility to obtain this within 3 months (or within 6 months for non-EEA applicants)
      • 4 years+ experience of specialty training in Urology

      Desirable

      • FRCS (Urol) or equivalent qualification
      • Intercalated BSc or equivalent
      • Previous evidence of research activity
      • Hold CCT in Urology

      Clinical Skills and Knowledge

      Essential

      • Satisfactory completion of training to a minimum of ST6 standard or equivalent (Urology national curriculum)
      • Must have previous experience in female and functional urology from prior training rotations
      • Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
      • Evidence of self-reflective practice
      • Good history & examination skills
      • Able to formulate a working diagnosis
      • Able to order appropriate investigations
      • Image interpretation relevant to practice
      • Knows when to appropriately seek assistance from a senior colleague
