The four GP partners all have special interests and actively encourage the clinical team to develop their own skills. The Clinical Team currently consists of three Salaried GPs, two Physician Associates, two Practice Nurses, one Nurse Associate and three Health Care Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribing Team, Physiotherapists and a Mental Health Link Worker.
In the position of Pharmacy Technician you will provide specialist pharmaceutical technical services, professional advice and direct support to clinical/non-clinical practice staff and to our patients. You will participate in maintaining medicines optimisation activity within the practice to improve patient care in relation to all aspects of medicines and their impact. As a part of your role, you will complete audits around medicine management, to ensure the safe, high quality and cost effective use of medicines in all prescribing decisions for the benefit of our patients and the Practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within their clinical competencies as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide expertise in clinical medicines management, provide structured medication reviews, manage long term conditions, management of medicines on transfer of care and systems for safer prescribing, manage repeat prescription authorisations and reauthorisation, acute prescription request. complete audits around medicine management, attend ICB and Meds management meetings. Review and update practice policys and protocols and support our busy Dispensary team.

The post holder will perform medication review of patients, especially for older people, people in residential care homes and those with multiple co-morbidities. The post holder will provide support on quality improvement and clinical audit and well as managing some aspects of the Quality and Outcomes Framework.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and professional team at Leiston Surgery.
The practice has a very strong interest in medical education and is an accredited centre for training GP registrars and PA students, as well as medical students from Cambridge University, Norwich Medical School and University College London.
The Surgery is located in the town of Leiston, on the Suffolk Coast. We have a branch surgery in the nearby village of Yoxford. The practice looks after approximately 9300 patients - with high patient satisfaction ratings and an ever-increasing practice list size. We provide a full range of primary health services, including minor surgery, child health care, maternity services, phlebotomy, diabetic clinics, respiratory services, womens health, contraception services, travel clinics and mental health services.
