What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct physician coding and documentation audits for compliance with E&M, CPT, ICD-10-CM, and other regulatory requirements
- Analyze audit findings and summarize results for the Physician Billing Compliance Services central database
- Facilitate audit conferences with representatives from the employer
- Identify training needs and provide remedial training to providers and billing staff as necessary
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures aligned with the employer's Billing Compliance Plan
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing
- At least 4 years of experience in medical coding for multi-specialty providers
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare payment and reimbursement rules
- At least 3 years of experience in medical record chart auditing for professional billing
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in a business or healthcare-related field preferred
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 1 year of experience with medical management information systems (EPIC preferred)
- Familiarity with auditing software applications such as MDaudit or Compliance Risk Analyzer
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P) certifications required at the time of hire
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required at the time of hire
- Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification required within 6 months of hire
