      Each year, as part of the Renewables segment, The Andersons refines corn into millions of gallons of ethanol, a low-cost, clean-burning, high-octane, renewable fuel product for refiners, fuel blenders, and convenience stores.

      Our investment in ethanol is a natural extension of our core business competencies in grain operations, corn originations, and commodity processing. We are a significant investor in, as well as manage the operations of, The Andersons Marathon Holdings LLC, with four plants located in Albion, Michigan; Clymers, Indiana; Greenville, Ohio; and Denison, Iowa.

      In addition to ethanol, these facilities collectively produce E-85, feed products, and corn oil, which is key to the renewable diesel industry.

      Position Overview

      Manages all assigned physical, human, and capital resources for an ethanol plant in a manner that meets customer expectations while achieving safety, productivity, quality and expense control targets.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Selects, develops, trains, cross trains, and motivates functional managers to achieve operating goals and business objectives through their respective teams.
      • Develops, implements, and controls annual manpower, capital, and operating plans to optimize efficiency, finished production, and utilization of staff and facility.
      • Coordinates with the company's hazard management team to ensure all safety, health, environmental, regulatory compliance, and other hazard management standards are met and exceeded.
      • Develops and maintains effective preventive, emergency, and facility/property maintenance programs to meet production commitments, reduce total maintenance cost, minimize downtime and ensure a safe and clean work site.
      • Ensures all activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws.
      • Identify continuous improvement opportunities, provide recommendations and lead continuous improvement efforts.
      • Monitor performance against annual plans and operating standards and goals to report status and take corrective actions as needed.

      Minimum Qualifications & Skills

      • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
      • 7-10 years’ relevant experience required

      Physical Requirements and Working Environment

      Work is performed in a 24x7 Ethanol production facility. This position is office-based while also spending significant time in the plant. Work is performed indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions and temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, noise, heights, uneven surfaces and intermittent lifting of heavy objects. Some work is performed in heights. Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
